Fleetwood U12s made the short journey to Vale of Lunes immaculate powder house lane ground on a glorious autumn morning to take part in their first ever games of Lancashire cup rugby against our old friends Fylde and the under12s from Preston Grasshoppers.

There was a good feel at the start of proceedings as the Fleetwood coaching team set up the clubs new Veo pitch side camera with Mike chatting to the lads of Vale and Fylde about the set up and benefits. As 10am arrived so did the Fleetwood lads buoyed be their recent performance against Fylde in the 1st game of the season, despite the squad missing several key players through injury, school camps and unavailability the starting lineup was as strong as could be as expected and with 13 players, enough to give a good account of themselves.

Danny and Mike put the lads through their paces in the warm up right up until kick off. Fylde won the toss and opted to receive the kick and went on the attack with their strong forward pack and elusive backs probing the Fleetwood defence and as with two weeks sucked in the resolute Fleetwood defence to score out wide. Things didn't get much easier for Fleetwood as three quick scores from turnovers and missed tackles followed in quick succession. The boys from Fleet never not once their heads drop though and lead by Charlie and Adrians aggressive tackling kept Fylde at bay until the brink of half time where Fylde sneaked in the corner after a simple draw and pass with Fleetwood's numbers tied in.

Danny and Mike gathered the boys in to a huddle and pointed out the things they were doing well and asked them to just improve their work rate and the chances would come. Tiger for one listened intently and came alive after the break helped by the introduction of Angus Levick smashing everything that moved managed to turn the ball over and feed the rampaging Adrian Douglas to go on a trademark arching run to score in the corner.

As the half continued Fylde found their rhythm once more and the floodgates nearly opened but for defensive work of Ben Barkworth in the maul and Tiger Doherty in and around the ruck stood out in particular, with all the Fleetwood lads keeping their heads up and never giving up

The final score was a fair result of 40-5 in favour of Fylde
