Vase final success tops off great season

Vaughan Evans14 Apr 2014 - 07:31

Fleetwood travelled to Leigh to play Sefton in the County Vase Final roared on by a big travelling army of supporters

Fleetwood started well applying early forward pressure thanks to Tom Greenwood and Mikey Foliard, Tyler McGawley ran well to set up left wing Feargus Anderson for the opening score. Sefton battled well but solid tackling from centre Taei Parker and back row John McCann kept the opposition at bay. A strong run from wing Ryan Hargreaves turned defence into attack off loading to No.8 Mitchel Peace to increase the score at half time. Sefton came out strong again but Fleetwood continued to hold strong partly due to good defensive kicking from fly half James Amor. Aled Hughes made an impact at prop whilst scrum half Conor Rothery delivered good ball through the game. Fleetwood looked to move the ball wide at every opportunity, Mitchel finished off an excellent team move for his second. Fleetwood finished the scoring with a well worked blind side set move for Feargus to grab his second, Ajay Lord converted 2 tries to end 24-0 victors.

Captain Alex Ogden lifted the trophy in front of a large travelling crowd, all coaches were very proud of all the teams efforts and a tour next week ends a great season.
