Hat trick for Scotty caps great team performance

But then Scott Richardson completely changed the complexion of the game with a well executed hat-trick. Firstly Dave Hart and Paul Bamber combined well to open up a space which Richardson burst through. He then converted to make a 7-0 lead. Next Dave Hart and Jack Crompton put Richardson away for try no2. Then a fine break by centre Newton, who was the carving the defence up at will, got Crompton away who fed Richardson for try no.3 which he then converted. 19-0. Just before half time Crompton again made a good break feeding Bamber who returned the compliment for 'Kaiser' to add the try. Half time 24-0.
The second half did not begin quite so fluently with Macclesfield dominating for some time through their fly half who kicked them into strong territorial advantage. This soon paid off and their forwards worked a try making the score 24-5. Fleetwood soon countered and after a typical Paul Bamber break substitute Luke Wilson put on the burners to score in the corner. Richardson converted to extend the lead to 31-5. More good handling amongst the threequarters saw Zack Coultas cross the line but his Chris Ashton-like diving touchline gained low marks for artistic impression. Again Richardson converted taking the score to 38-5 and his personal tally to 23 points.
A fine win for Fleetwood. Outstanding performances from Ricky Newton, Dave Hart and of course, man- of- the- match Scott Richardson.
