Doherty hat trick caps Man of the Match display

Fleetwood began with some strong early running from Man of the Match Craig Doherty and Zack Coultas. Tyldesley were then pinned down in their own 22 by some outstanding defence by Fleetwood for what seemed like an age, before Mike Wilson crashed over for Fleetwood’s first of 7 tries.

Fleetwood continued to keep Tyldesley under pressure who were struggling to get out of their own half, and the constant pressure then resulted in tries for Doherty and Zack Coultas who continued to impress with some strong runs at the Tyldesley defence.

Just before half time Tyldesley had their only real visit into the Fleetwood half which came from an interception but the attack was put paid to by some strong Fleetwood defending.

At the start of the second half Tyldesley seemed to come out the more fired up side and quickly forced Fleetwood into Conceding a penalty which was converted and the moments later they took another interception pass which this time they managed a try in the corner, which was also converted.

This seemed to wake Fleetwood up and it was to be the final score from Tyldesley and the game was pretty much one way traffic from there with further tries from Scott Richardson, Ricky Newton and a hat-trick of tries from Craig Doherty. Conversions came from Marc Maher, Paul Bamber and Ricky Newton, who also had an outstanding game in the centre.
