Fleetwood 2nds travelled to Kirby Lonsdale with a 100% record with the intention of making it 4 out of 4 wins.

Kirby appeared to have another result in mind when they took an early lead with a try by the scrumhalf after some strong defensive play had forced Fleetwood into making errors and Kirby scored in the corner from a tap penalty.

This was to be the only points from Kirby in the first half as Fleetwood settled and started to put Kirby under pressure and this paid off with try from Kris Phillips on the left wing. Jack Crompton then managed to spill the ball over the Kirby try line, before making amends a few minutes later with a well taken try after some good hands by the Fleetwood back line.

The Fleetwood pack continued to put Kirby under pressure with some strong running by Woodburn and Moran, and the pressure paid off with another try for Crompton. Fleetwood’s Fourth try came from George Seymour, after again good work by the forwards and quick hands by the backs.

In the second half Kirby made a spirited comeback and started to apply more pressure on Fleetwood’s line only for Phillips to sprint clear and score their 5th try of the game. Kirby to their credit never gave in and they responded with a well worked try of their own.

Kris Phillips then scored his fourth try of the game before Kirby again came back with their 3rd try of the game. Fleetwood then broke away again with Philips, who looked to have put in Bamber only for the play to be brought back for a dubious forward pass. Fleetwood continued to pile on the pressure and it paid off with a try By Ricky Newton , who also converted 2 tries to finish off the game. Bamber also converted 3 tries before passing on the duties to Newton.

It was another good all round performance against a spirited Kirby Lonsdale side who never gave up the challenge. There was some strong work done by the forwards and some good ball handling skills shown by the backs. Man of the match was Nick Perks who worked tirelessly for the team and turned over the oppositions ball on a number of occasions.
