Turning up to your Gold Coast neighbours ground with a select 11 players was only every going to result in a loss.

However, for large parts of the game Fleet stuck to the task in hand and never gave up the battle. It was 10 minutesvinto the game before Fylde even struck! Despite the regular flow of tries beingvscored the absolute highlight of the half was a well rehearsed move by the forwards, Foden, Barnes, Simpkin, Buzza, Jackson, Barkworth which allowed No. 8 Smith to score a dazzling try from all of 2 metres! Even the Fylde players manged to applaud the effort which the half ended with Fleet slightly behind.

By now the generous hosts who had declined to lend Fleet any of their 18 players needed to freshen up their side as legs were tiring, the points continued to be amassed as Howe, Taylor, Haigh and Davies valiantly defended the line. The referee who had left his rule book at home kept asking if Fleet wanted to end their torment but the Green and Gold stood firm until the bitter end. Further tries were added and the game finished with Fleet coming in a worthy second, enough said.

Credit has to go to all the players who managed to take the field, they all showed commitment, endeavour and determination. Next week Fleetwood wrap up an eventful season when the road trip reaches northern Manchester where the Tigers of Sedgley will hopefully be beaten for a second time in 3 weeks by the Melbourne avenue men.
