Mini/Junior comes full circle

Former Fleetwood Prop Jamie Moran has decided to hang up his boots (or so he thinks) and take on the challenge of becoming the 1st XV manager for the 2024/2025 season

Jamie is a product of the Fleetwood mini junior production line having joined the club in 2003 under the tutelage of Jon Amor and Vaughan Evans. Jamie came to the club with a bit of a temper however as he passed through the age grades and with a combination of great coaching hard work and camaraderie Jamie was able to channel that into rugby and became a value member of the senior setup where he was part of the 2011 North Lancs Cumbria championship winning side where he formed a formidable partnership with Ben Corless in the front row

Known on the pitch for his scrummaging and rampaging runs and off it for his passion for the club and rugby as a whole its fantastic to have Jamie back on board following a brief sabbatical at our neighbours up the road.

New club director of rugby Ricky Newton had this to say about the appointment

“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Jamie back to the club. He’s a big character with and vast knowledge of the game but more importantly he is a product of Fleetwood’s junior section and as a result he understands the club and the people surrounding it.

I had the luxury of playing alongside Jamie for years on the pitch and I am now looking forward to working with him once again but this time off the pitch in both our new roles. We share the same passion, which is to improve the club both on and off the field and I’m confident between us with help from the rest of the committee we can make positive steps forward.

Jamie has been working extremely hard in the background in recent weeks with a variety of tasks, in particular securing sponsorship/s for the upcoming season and contacting players both old and new.”

We at Fleetwood RUFC wish Jamie all the best in his new role and are excited by just how much enthusiasm he has shown already in such a short period

Good Luck Jaime
