Fleetwood RUFC Colts make the trip to Littleborough this weekend aiming to extend their good run of form. The side currently sit third in the table, having recorded two wins, one draw, and one defeat from their opening four matches.
Head Coach Steve O’Connell, along with Brad Clark and Josh “Tubbs” Strickland, have been full of praise for the squad’s progress in recent weeks. O’Connell has had something of a selection headache this week, with 20 players available and making the trip — a great sign of depth and competition for places within the group. He admitted he’s delighted to have that problem, crediting the players for their effort and attitude in training.
This weekend also marks a special moment for Arnoldas Pipiras, who makes his Fleetwood Colts debut — and his first ever game of rugby. The coaching team and players have rallied around him, and all are looking forward to seeing him pull on the shirt for the first time.
Recent performances have shown real progress, with solid defence, sharper attacking play, and growing confidence throughout the team. Littleborough are always tough opposition on home soil, but Fleetwood will be looking to rise to the challenge and continue their strong early-season form.
A positive result could see the Colts tighten their grip on a top-three spot and keep their momentum rolling into the next run of fixtures.
Head Coach Steve O’Connell said:
“We’re building something special here. The boys are training hard, pushing each other every week, and it’s great to see that competition for places. Every game is another chance to improve and show what we’re about.”
