Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School were crowned tag rugby champions following a lively final against Shakespeare Primary School who overcame Larkholme Primary in the semi-finals. St Wulstan's & St Edmund's Catholic Primary were the other semi-finalists.
The event, for year 5 and 6 teams, was organised by the Melbourne Avenue club and the Wyre & Fylde School Sports Partnership and included several Green & Gold junior players.
Lee Cadwallader form the Partnership was pleased with the pace and enthusiasm shown by all competitors.
"In all, 8 team participated on a sunny and warm autumnal day. Combined with the well-maintained pitches we experienced some lively rugby and with plenty of smiles!
"Close rivals Shakespeare and Sacred Heart met in a well contested final. It was end-to-end scoring for most part of the game with either side looking likely to be the victor. It was Sacred Heart who eventually edged a close 11-9 victory.
"The event was refereed by officials and first XV players from Fleetwood rugby club and they needed to work hard to keep up with the swift play! A great event was had by all and a big thanks to Mike Ramsey for coordinating the event."
Baines Endowed, Hambleton, Anchorsholme and Sacred Heart b team also participated.
