Excellent local encounter swings Fleet's way

In misty conditions Fleetwood put together 8 phases from the start with
Nathan Hogg and Ciaran Thornborough making strong inroads applying pressure on Preston for most of the 1st quarter, however with each phase
came stout defending from Preston and Fleetwood were unable to convert
this to points.

Despite good delivery from scrum-half Kieran Butler and strong running
from Will Gair Fleetwood were unable to break the deadlock, Preston
opended the scoring with a quick counter attack from the half way line.
Fleetwood continued to apply pressure on the Preston defence and were
rewarded with a try from centre Alex Ogden to level scores. Just before the end of the 1st quarter Preston regained their lead with a second but outside centre Cavan Sielski made it 2-2 before hooker Sean
Wright split the Preston defence putting Fleetwood in the lead for the 1st time. Preston did not sit back and instead levelled once more with unanswerable pace out wide.

The watching crowd were kept entertained through a hard fought 3rd quarter with a quick thinking tap penalty from James Amor being the only score. Referee Danny Tomlinson kept a watchful eye in quarter 4 on tackles from both sides as stamina was tested. Callum McDermott, Oliver Fearn and Harrison Stott all played their part at wing and it was Fleetwood who came out on top with Ogden taking two more scores in an all round excellent display to finish the match at 6-3.

round great display.

Fleetwood look to continue with this fine run against LSH next week.
